From Struggles to Success: Donna’s PHX Training Journey

When Donna first approached PHX Training Blackpool, she was battling the demons of alcohol misuse and had lost her direction in life. Her self-esteem was at its lowest, and the challenges seemed overwhelming.

The Turning Point: Embracing Learning

Determined to turn her life around, Donna began attending regular appointments with her Work Coach every two weeks. While seeking sustainable employment, she decided to enhance her skills. Donna embarked on a series of courses, including Health and Safety Awareness, Business Administration Level 1, ICT & Digital Skills, and even a course on budgeting and interview techniques. With an aspiration to work in the security sector, she also pursued the SIA Course.

The Remarkable Transformation

With each course and session, Donna’s confidence and resilience grew. She began to recognise her transferable skills and realised she was capable of much more than she had initially believed. This newfound confidence led her to secure a full-time position in a local hotel upon completing the SIA course.

Testimonials from the PHX Team

Donna shared, “While attending PHX training I have gained many skills and my confidence has improved massively with the help and support of the PHX Team in Blackpool. The courses I have attended will help with my long-term employability. I have also made many new friends from attending the courses and with the encouragement of the staff and other people attending the courses I have gained confidence and feel I can go on to do great things with my life. I would recommend PHX Training to anyone that needs to build up their confidence and self-esteem.”

Her Work Coach, Gillian, remarked, “Donna has always attended her appointments on a two-weekly basis. We worked together on her low self-esteem and lack of confidence. Together though Information Advice and Guidance we built up her confidence and resilience. The training courses she did helped her and she worked hard and realised she is capable of achieving her goals. I am really pleased that she now has realised her potential and that she is capable of achieving her goals. I really hope that she enjoys the job she is about to start and continues with her lifelong learning.”

Leeanne, her tutor, added, “Donna first did the multiply session and spoke of having good maths skills but struggled with English. Donna then enrolled on the ICT & Digital skills bundle thoroughly enjoying it and being a great asset to the classroom. Donna was enthusiastic and was often seen helping others. Donna was motivated to learn more. Donna then enrolled on the Business admin course and improved her English and passed the course. Donna was informative in group discussions and helped her peers. Donna was always cheerful and fun to be around. Donna was missed from the classroom by myself and her peers. I wish her all the luck in the future. Good luck Donna!”
