A local man from Barrow has greatly improved his workplace confidence and gained vital qualifications following time spent with leading training provider, PHX Training.
Paul Cort decided that he wanted to pursue a career in adult social care and reached out to the PHX Training team in Barrow to discuss his options.
Following an initial appointment with a PHX national careers advisor, where employment options were explored, an action plan was put in place to help Paul work towards his dream role.
This involved extensive learning over a six-week period which took place at the PHX centre, supported by his tutor and other learners, which led to Paul gaining a number of qualifications including a certificate in adult social care level two, certificate in mental health advocacy and mental first aid level two, and safeguarding and prevent level two.
This adult social care course is perfect for individuals like Paul considering, a career in adult social care and provides fantastic progression on to further distance learning courses, such as the level two certificate in customer service for health and social care settings.
Speaking of his experience with PHX Training and his vocational tutor Karen Ingram, Paul said: “As soon as I entered the centre in Barrow, I was greeted with a warm welcome, and the staff were happy to listen to my plans.
“Karen is so supportive; I’ve learnt so much from her as she was able to provide me with all the information I needed, from her many years working in the care industry herself.”
With the confidence Paul has gained at PHX, he feels he has a greater understanding of the sector and is better prepared for future employment.
Paul adds: “I can have further support from PHX with updating my CV, to include my recent qualifications, and have some interview preparation sessions planned, once that’s done, I’m ready to take the next step in my career.”
