PHX launches new Skills Bootcamp offering hospitality career boost for Cumbria residents

PHX is launching a new hospitality skills bootcamp designed to help bridge the local skills gap and boost employment in the hospitality sector.

The skills bootcamp will run for six-weeks from Monday, May 28, and will be delivered by experienced vocational tutors at PHX Training’s centres in Barrow and Carlisle.

It is aimed at individuals aged 19 and over who are looking to start or grow their careers in hospitality by developing sector-specific skills, including customer service excellence, effective teamwork, and critical health and safety practices.

Throughout the course, learners will receive comprehensive work-readiness training and build their confidence through targeted interview preparation.

Upon completion, learners will be offered guaranteed interviews with a local business, with an immediate start date, and will receive a fully accredited Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality.

PHX is also encouraging local businesses to get involved, who will have the opportunity to engage directly with candidates, take part in mock interviews, and build relationships with potential team members.

Briony Fawcett, managing director at PHX, said: “We are proud to introduce the hospitality skills bootcamp at such a crucial time for our local industry. Employers across the region are eager for talented, work-ready individuals who can step into roles and make an immediate impact.

“This bootcamp not only supports individuals to build confidence and key sector skills but also provides businesses with a fresh pipeline of motivated, skilled candidates. It’s a win-win for our community, and we are happy to help strengthen the future of hospitality in Barrow, Carlisle and beyond.”
