Disability Pride Month is a worldwide celebration held each year in July, to celebrate those living with visible and non-visible disabilities. Disability Pride Month is a way in which everyone can celebrate the identities and cultures of those living with a disability, and to celebrate their valuable contributions to society. Disability Pride Month also helps to promote equality, diversity and inclusion for those living with a disability, as well as raising awareness of the challenges that they face in everyday life. It is also a month in which people can challenge their own perceptions and beliefs along with that of others through listening, learning and communication. Disability Pride Month is an opportunity to recognise and to become more aware of the diverse experiences of those living with a disability by creating a society that is equal, diverse, and inclusive.

History of Disability Pride Month.
Disability Pride Month originates from the U.S.A, where in July 1990, the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was introduced. The introduction of this law meant that it would be a criminal offence to discriminate against those in America living with a disability.
The implementation of this law ensures equal opportunities are available for those living with a disability in terms of employment, state and local government services, public accommodations, transportation, and telecommunications.
In the UK we have the Disability Discrimination Act 2002, replaced by the Equality Act in 2010. Since 2015, Disability Pride Month has been celebrated annually in the UK
Celebrate Disability Pride Month 2025.
There are several ways in which you can include yourself in the celebration of Disability Pride Month 2025.
Key activities include engaging with disability creators through methods such as social media platforms, educating yourself about ableism (discrimination), donating money to disability charities or getting involved in raising funds through charity volunteer work, and by attending a disability pride events in your local area.
